๐ Chakli Recipe (Crispy & Spicy Spiral Snack)
Chakli, also known as Murukku in South India, is a crispy spiral-shaped snack made from rice flour and spices. It is popular during Diwali and other Indian festivals.

| Gram flour (besan) | ½ cup |
| Butter (softened) | 2 tbsp |
| Sesame seeds (white/black) | 1 tsp |
| Cumin seeds (jeera) | 1 tsp |
| Red chili powder | 1 tsp |
| Turmeric powder | ¼ tsp |
| Asafoetida (hing) | ¼ tsp |
| Salt | To taste |
| Water | As needed |
| Oil | For deep frying |

1. Mix Dry Ingredients
Combine rice flour, besan, sesame seeds, cumin, red chili powder, turmeric, hing, and salt in a bowl.
2. Add Butter
Add softened butter and rub it in with your fingers until the mixture becomes crumbly.
3. Make Dough
Gradually add water and knead to a soft, smooth dough. It should be firm yet pliable.
4. Fill Chakli Maker
Grease the chakli/murukku maker. Place some dough in it. Use the star-shaped disc.
5. Shape the Chaklis
Press spirals on a parchment paper or the back of a greased plate. Seal the end with a little water.
6. Fry Until Golden
Heat oil on medium heat. Fry chaklis 3-4 at a time until golden and crispy.
7. Cool & Store
Drain excess oil on paper towels. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Do not overwork the dough—it should be soft but not sticky.

Oil should be medium hot—too hot and the chakli burns, too cold and it becomes oily.
